Summer Challenge Day 25 - Summer Water Marble

Hi there!

I'm sure everyone has struggled with water marbling (and wasted polish in the process). I had planned to some pretty combinations, like blues to replicate the ocean waves, but everything I tried failed. Although I did have a successful water marble the day before (below) so I don't know what I did wrong. This was originally going to be my mani for the blue, green and aqua challenge but I decided to save it for today.

.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a great day!

Summer Challenge Day 24 - Underneath the Stars

Today's challenge is underneath the stars and I wanted to recreate the night's sky. I thought this manicure was beautiful, but I am partial to blues.

I started with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Night Flight. Then I sponged Wet n' Wild French White Creme on the tips, and sponged on top of the white using an unknown L.A. Colors blue polish. I added a coat of silver glitter to create the stars in the sky. Love it!

Summer Challenge Day 23 - Blue, Aqua and Green Mani

I had a water marble to show you for the blue, aqua and green mani, but today I was trying to get ahead in the challenge and was working on my summer water marble and wasted a bunch of polish trying to get the colors to work together and get a pretty design. It was so frustrating! So I gave up and decided I'd use my blue, aqua and green water marble for the summer water challenge which you will see in a couple of days. Since I was already frustrated and spent too much time on water marbling, I went with a quick and simple design for today.

The base color is L.A. Colors Sea Siren. I added dots using Pure Ice Wild Thing and an unknown blue polish from L.A. Colors.

Summer Challenge Day 22 - Wimbledon

Hi there!

I am going to admit that I don't really watch sports on television. I have been to a few major and minor league baseball games though, which were always fun in person, but I wouldn't watch it on TV. I've never watched Wimbledon so I'm not too familiar with it (like knowing its colors are teal and purple). So I went with just a simple tennis ball design.

I painted my nails with a base coat of Pure Ice Wild Thing. On my thumb and ring finger I added a Sinful Colors Neon Melon for the tennis balls and I used acrylic paint for the lines. I finished the look with a Warpaint Beauty Mattify polish.

Stamping Sunday - Goth Style

If I haven't mentioned before, I'm in a group on Facebook that stamps on Sundays. It's called Adventures In Stamping and today's theme is goth. I don't own any plates with skulls so I went with something dark and lacy with fishnet. I don't know how gothic it is, but I think it's very pretty.

My base color is Pure Ice Kiss Me Here. I stamped with Milani Deep Thoughts using Konad plate m71 for the lacy design. Then I used a black polish to stamp the fishnet design from Cheeky plate CH11.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a blessed day =)

Summer Challenge Day 21 - Picnic

For this challenge I decided to go the same route that many others have gone, and paint a picnic blanket with ants because it's just too cute! I used white, red and black acrylic paint and a striper brush. I finished the look with NYC Extra Shiny Top Coat.

Check it out!! The pattern matches my shoulder bag. I love this gingham look!

Summer Challenge Day 20 - Jungle or Parrots

I had trouble thinking of what to do for a jungle, so I went with something found in the jungle - blue poison dart frogs. I love frogs! And that's mainly due to the fact that my high school class mascot was Kermit the Frog.

I absolutely LOVE this look, especially the color. It was so easy to do too. I used L.A. Colors Static Electricity for the base color, then I sponged on some Pure Ice Mint Dream. With some black acrylic paint and a paint brush, I painted on spots of various sizes starting with larger dots and then filling in the spaces with smaller dots. I finished with a top coat of NYC Extra Shiny Top Coat.

I'm still playing around with hand positions and photo editing in Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3. In the first photo, I muted the red skin tones and added a glamour film to it. I kind of like how it makes the colors of the  manicure pop. I'd love to know what you think looks best...

Summer Challenge Day 19 - Ice Cream Sundae

I'll have a fudge sundae please! No really! Doesn't that sound good? While my husband is going downstairs to get us some vanilla ice cream with fudge syrup, I have some ice cream sundae nail art to show you and it looks so yummy!

After painting my base colors, I used a white polish to make arches from the center to the tips. Then I used brown acrylic paint to make the dripping fudge and red acrylic paint to top of the fudge with a cherry. Yum!

Summer Challenge Day 18 - Ballooning

Sorry, I've been MIA lately. I've been busier than usual since Sunday (Father's Day). Sunday afternoon the kids and I took my husband to a waterpark for some cool down fun. Monday, we drove to a little tourist town in hopes of picking peaches, but the farm closed early. Darn. So instead, we drove into the main part of town for a picnic and window shopping. Even though we didn't get to pick peaches, I still had a great time.

This was definitely challenging for me, but I pulled my inspiration from some scrapbook paper again. I think I prefer the larger hot air balloon. It was much easier to paint.

Check out the beautiful owl car charm my husband gave me from our trip. It says Live, Love, Laugh. It's so cute!

Summer Challenge Day 17 - Hippie/Retro/Summer of Love

Hi there!

The first thing I thought of for this challenge was tie dye, of course. But my 4yo son has been watching Cars 2 non-stop lately which made me think of the hippie VW bus Fillmore from the movie. I had a whole theme planned but Fillmore took me over two hours to paint, so I just finished the rest of the nails with some hippie flowers. I haven't really painted much since college, so maybe the more I practice, the better it will get.

Fillmore and the flowers were made with acrylic paint.

Unfortunately my middle finger smeared. I applied my Seche Vite top coat before the acrylic paint dried.

Summer Challenge Day 16 - Ladybugs

Hi there!

Earlier this week I pulled out my old art tool box from college and found some fine sable brushes that I figured I could use for my nail art. Also in the box were some aluminum tubes of acrylic paint, but the tubes split at the creases and the paint dried so I bought some new acrylic paint. I have been wanting to try acrylic painting for the detailed nail art, instead of polish, because I thought it would be easier. I don't know about that though....I had a really hard time keeping my hand steady for this!

For my ladybug design, I drew inspiration from some scrapbook paper.

Here are some sketches of the early designs - I didn't even bother cleaning up. My family took a vote on which ones they liked and the blades of grass with ladybugs got one vote, and the abstract flowers and plant with ladybugs got two, so that's what I went with. Haha

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a great day!
