Summer Challenge Day 32 - Pink and Purple Mani

Hi there!

For today's pink and purple challenge, I considered practicing water marbling, but I decided to practice my stamping instead because I figured it would be faster. I seem to be short on time lately, working last weekend and I'm enjoying some family time with my SIL visiting for two weeks. In a house full of boys, I so need some girly time!

For this design, my base color is NYC Downtown, then I sponged a gradient with Wet n' Wild Megalast On A Trip, and finally stamped with Cheeky plate H using Pure Ice New Lilac.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a great day!

Summer Challenge Day 15 - Hot Pink Freestyle

I am totally lovin' today's mani!!

Today, I took my boys to Regal theater for the Summer Movie Express movies for $1 where we saw Happy Feet 2. Cute movie but, boy, did it seem long! The first one was like that, too. Although being a fan of Disney musicals, I did love the singing in both movies.

I got my inspiration for my HOT PINK PANTHER manicure before the movie started when I was playing with my phone. I have trouble just sitting still - I always have to be doing something... so watching a movie at the theater is one instance where the movie will have my undivided attention.

I only have one hot pink polish and it never photographs like it's hot pink. Although the color showed up well on the Pink Panther. I think maybe I should be using a white base color first and then a coat of hot pink.

For the hot pink color, I used Sinful Colors Pink.  I tried sponging a gradient with Wet n' Wild Black Creme, but it doesn't photograph well. I used a dotting tool to dot the paw prints. And I was crazy enough to paint the Pink Panther with nail polish because I don't have any acrylic paint other than white and brown. I think he turned out pretty darn cute though! I love it!

After putting so much effort into painting him, I don't want to take it off! Haha

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a great day!

Summer Challenge Day 11 - Pink and Blue

Hi there!

I am so excited about this manicure! I have been admiring retro/vintage looks since I was a kid, but last year my friend Michele introduced me to some vintage hairstyling videos on YouTube and I fell in love. I've always wanted to learn how to create those beautiful and glamorous hairstyles so I immediately started pin curling and perfecting my victory rolls.

For the Pink and Blue manicure, I went with a vintage inspired look - stripes and roses. I came across this idea after watching several YouTube videos.

The base color is Bikini So Teeny by Essie which is a beautiful cornflower blue.

For the thumb and ring finger, I used a slightly darker blue polish and painted some wide stripes. Then I used a white striper brush straight down the middle of the blue stripes. With a dotting tool, I dipped it in some pink and white polish and made circled shapes for the roses. Then I used a toothpick to add green leaves to the design. I'm sure this is one design my grandmother would have loved. Her favorite flowers were roses.

So that's it for today. Take care and have a beautiful day!

Summer Challenge Day 10 - Queen's Diamond Jubilee

Hi there!

Today's challenge is the Queen's Diamond Jubilee which is another event from the United Kingdom. I think it's rather fun learning about events and holidays that occur in countries other than the United States. I would love to visit the UK some day and do some genealogy research and learn more about their history. I'll have to add that to my bucket list.

For this manicure I went with a combination of what color polish I thought the queen would consider wearing herself, and then added some sparkly glitter to give the appearance of cut diamonds. I really love this look. It's so neutral and can be worn with anything.

Unfortunately I do not have the labels for some of the polish I used. The base color is a pale shimmery pink from Orly, and then I added a light sweep of a white glitter from L.A. Colors. Towards the tip of the nails I added another glitter, Wet N' Wild Kaleidoscope, and a few extra larger glitters, and topped it with Seche Vite.

Ta Ta For Now!
